JanoSeba Kendra Addresses Rohingya Water Crisis: Installation of 225 Deep Wells Brings Hope for Pure Drinking Water in Cox’s Bazar.

The place in Cox’s Bazar at where the displaced Rohingya community took shelter was not prepared to accommodate a large number of people. This area was comprised of high and low land. There was no availability of basic needs for human being at least a minimum level in this area. After arrival of Rohingya community, it was created great demand of basic human needs including pure drinking water. At the very beginning of Rohingya crisis, some national and international charity organizations have installed some water well but most of them are shallow which are not able to lift pure drinking water. Moreover, the number of wells was not sufficient enough according to the number of populations live at the camps areas. The displaced Rohingya people were getting different types of water related diseases dysentery, cholera, diarrhea, hepatitis A, typhoid and polio.

JanoSeba Kendra (JSK) has been working from the beginning of the Rohingya influx in Bangladesh with the finance of many national and international organization including Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) USA. After observing the water crisis at the camp areas JSK had taken an initiative to solve the crisis of pure drinking water through installing 225 deep waters well with finance of HHRD.
