Bangladesh Flood Emergency Relief Project 2024
Project Background & Humanitarian Crisis
In mid-2024, heavy monsoon rains triggered devastating floods across 11 districts of Bangladesh, affecting over five million people and leaving thousands stranded without food, shelter, or clean water. Families lost their homes and livelihoods overnight, while outbreaks of waterborne diseases spread rapidly through submerged communities. To respond to this humanitarian emergency, Jano Seba Kendra (JSK), in partnership with Alkhidmat Foundation (AKFP), launched the Bangladesh Flood Emergency Relief Project 2024. JSK field teams, alongside local volunteers and authorities, immediately began assessments and distributions of food, hygiene kits, and cooked meals to the most affected families in Feni, Noakhali, and Comilla. The relief operation reached 14,315 individuals, ensuring lifesaving food, hygiene items, and temporary nutritional support for those trapped by floodwaters. The project offered more than immediate aid—it restored hope and faith in the hearts of flood survivors.
“When the floodwater inundated our whole village in Feni, we were stranded on the rooftop with no drinking water. JSK volunteers arrived on engine boats with hot meals and clean water.”
— Delwar Hossain, Flood Survivor, Feni
